The spiritual fulfilment of all men is fatherhood for all men are called by God to serve, protect, provide and love all who are entrusted to their care. Whether you are called to serve in religious life, marriage, or to remain chaste all of us are called to spiritual fatherhood.
Pope John XXIII proclaimed that “the father stands in God’s place. He must lead and guide the rest by his authority and the example of his good life” 1Pope Pius XI clearly taught that good life is to “imitate that most perfect example of holiness placed before man by God, namely Christ Our Lord, and by God’s grace to arrive at the summit of perfection, as is proved by the example set by many saints.”2
Our Lady came to Fatima to call us all to “Pray, pray a great deal, and make sacrifices for sinners, for many souls go to Hell because they have no one to pray and make sacrifices for them.”
If we take seriously our Holy Mothers call should we not take our Lord’s command as to “love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind”. For only a man who deeply loves God can have the courage to fulfil his calling and follow our Lord’s second command that “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Mat 22: 37-39
As men seeking the fulfilment of our calling, do we not seek heaven for our neighbour, our children, the stranger, the non-believer, those who persecute us? Do we not seek to be Fathers and guide our fellow man towards the good life!
If you are reading this, you are called to this mission, to holiness and to lead those entrusted to you. Is not laying down your life the most powerful act of love there is? 3Will you follow the command to repair the damages and offences towards the Immaculate Heart of our Holy Mother and to kneel with other men in an act of prayerful sacrifice?
Our acts of reparation are not futile. When rooted in the Gospel, offered with a spirit of complete abandonment to God’s saving grace, and driven by a desire to grow in perfect christian charity, they become powerful instruments.
Brothers, let us rise to the call. Join us at the next First Saturday Rosary Crusade—an act of public witness, prayer, and reparation.
O my God, I believe, I adore you, I hope, and I love you. I beg pardon of Thee for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope, and do not love Thee.4
